First Citizens Celebrates Culture and Teamwork at Staff “Play ah Pan” Workshop

Press Release

Staff members of First Citizens engaged in learning the basics of the steelpan during the "Play ah Pan" Workshop

First Citizens demonstrated its deep commitment to cultural preservation and employee engagement through its recent “Play ah Pan” Workshop, hosted in partnership with the Supernovas Steel Orchestra on the 21st and 22nd of September 2024 at its headquarters in Surrey Village, Lopinot. This immersive two-day experience brought employees from across the organisation, offering them the unique chance to learn the art of playing the steelpan, the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago, while promoting team-building and interdepartmental collaboration.

As the official sponsor of the Supernovas, First Citizens emphasised its continuing relationship with the Band, creating a space where employees could bond and express themselves in a supportive, creative environment. Under the guidance of experienced pannists, participants gained hands-on experience in steelpan performance, music theory, and teamwork, enriching their understanding of this important cultural symbol.

By integrating meaningful cultural experiences like the “Play ah Pan” Workshop into its employee engagement programmes, First Citizens strengthens its dynamic organisational culture, rooted in community, creativity, and collaboration.
