First Citizens Sponsors UTT Bursaries
Press Release
In a landmark initiative signaling a new era of partnership, First Citizens has forged a significant collaboration with the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), aimed at bolstering educational opportunities. As part of this endeavour, the bank has allocated a sum of $40,000.00 to sponsor eight student bursaries.
The key objectives of this partnership are twofold: to empower deserving students through financial assistance and to promote academic excellence. First Citizens is committed to fostering a brighter future for Trinidad and Tobago, with a keen focus on advancing education and supporting aspiring scholars. Central to this initiative is the selection process for bursary recipients, guided by specific criteria. Prospective candidates must be citizens of Trinidad and Tobago, possess a GPA score of 2.5 and above, and be enrolled in studies related to Renewable Energy programs. The criteria ensure that bursaries are awarded to individuals who demonstrate both academic merit and a desire to contribute to the sustainable energy sector.
Nadine Harding-Mohan, Cluster Manager – South, First Citizens presented the sponsorship to the Undergraduate Student Financial Aid Fund represented by Professor Prakash Persad – President, University of Trinidad & Tobago, at UTT’s Point Lisas Campus. During the presentation, Ms. Harding-Mohan commented, “First Citizens continues to emphasize the importance of investing in education, and this partnership symbolizes the positive change that can be achieved through strategic alliances between the corporate sector and educational institutions.”
This initiative further demonstrates First Citizens commitment to investing in youth development and education. The Group extends a heartfelt congratulations to the recipients and wish them the very best in their ongoing educational pursuits.
