First Citizens Sponsors UWI Bursaries

On December 4th, 2023, First Citizens was pleased to award four bursaries to undergraduate students at the University of the West Indies in its ongoing support of youth development through education. Over the past 18 years, the Group has awarded more than 50 bursaries to deserving students from the UWI Faculty of Social Sciences and this year it has committed to a similar initiative with the University of Trinidad and Tobago as well.
Professor Indar Ramnarine, Deputy Principal, University of the West Indies, Ms. Trudy Noor, East Cluster Manager, First Citizens, and awardees Mr. Jaylan Hosein, Ms. Amelia Ramsaroop, Mr. Joel Sammons, and Mr. Rishi Boodhu attended the special presentation at the office of the Deputy Principal, UWI. The four students were chosen from a highly competitive pool of candidates based on their academic performance.
Ms. Noor presented congratulatory letters to the awardees stating, “We hope that receiving this grant will aid you in your academic journey and provide you with the support you need to achieve your goals. You have proven that you have what it takes to succeed, and we have no doubt that you will continue to achieve great things in the future.”
Initiatives like these demonstrate First Citizens commitment to investing in the future of our youth and by nurturing and rewarding academic excellence. The Group extends a heartfelt congratulations to the recipients and wish them the very best in their ongoing educational pursuits.
