The Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) has kicked off another exciting season of school football engaging over 100 secondary schools in competition.  First Citizens is excited to announce another year of partnership with the SSFL, continuing its 13-year commitment to developing young football talent and supporting youth development in the community. Building on the success of previous seasons, First Citizens is thrilled to strengthen its partnership with local schools and empower even more students to excel both on and off the field.

Sacha Syne, General Manager—Corporate and Investment Banking of First Citizens, shared the Group’s vision for the programme: “We are proud to partner with the SSFL for another season, continuing our investment in the future of our young athletes. Our goal is to provide opportunities for students to thrive not only in sports but also in their academic and personal growth. Football teaches invaluable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and leadership, and we are excited to see these qualities shine on the field this season.”

Merere Gonzales, President – SSFL said, “We assist in nurturing future stars with the help of corporate sponsorship by trying to ensure that our schools (student-athletes) receive the financial support agreed upon, certainly intending to impact on Training Costs, Competition Fees (e.g.: Scholarship and Professional Contractual fees) and any other support that helps them to excel.

The ongoing season will culminate in a grand finale prize-giving ceremony, where top teams, standout players, and those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership will be recognised and rewarded. This year, First Citizens is also introducing new awards for academic excellence and sportsmanship, reinforcing the value of balanced growth.

As the new season continues, First Citizens remains dedicated to its mission of fostering youth talent, promoting sportsmanship, and building a brighter future for young athletes across the country.
